Involets vs Wave

A Wave alternative for people who bill their time

Wave is free invoicing and accounting for small businesses, with no time tracking. Involets is free invoicing with a time tracker at its center: the hours you track become the lines on your invoice. Both are good; which suits you depends on how you bill.

Involets and Wave on price

Wave’s Starter plan is free. Pro is $19 a month, or $190 a year, and card payments cost 2.9% plus 60 cents each (3.4% for Amex). Involets is free for one person, and $6 a month for a company of up to 30.

Where Wave is ahead

Accounting

Wave keeps your books: income, expenses, receipts and the reports your accountant asks for. Involets is not accounting software.

Payments from the invoice

Wave emails invoices and can take card and bank payments from them, for a fee on each. Involets makes a PDF that tells the client how to pay you, and the money goes straight to you.

Where Involets is different

Time tracking at the center

Involets has a timer, a timesheet, a Chrome extension and a Mac menu bar app, and the hours you track become invoice lines. Wave does not track time.

Projects that know what is left

Hourly and fixed-price projects show what is billed, unbilled and left, and Reports show your effective hourly rate. Wave invoices are made from products and services instead.

A company space

On the Company plan up to 30 people track time and invoice in one shared space for $6 a month.

Which to choose

Choose Wave if you sell products or fixed services and want free invoicing with bookkeeping and online payments. Choose Involets if you bill your time, by the hour or by the project, and want the tracking and the invoice in one place.
